About Us
Natural Images Photography features the work of Karen
Williamson, an Albany, New York based photographer specializing in the
outdoors, especially nature and landscapes.
Her work has won a number of awards and been published
in various publications, including the Conservationist magazine, U. S. News and World Report , local
tourist guides and books by the Adirondack Mountain Club
and US Department of Agriculture.
Karen's work has been selected for a number of local and
regional exhibitions, including Adirondack Women...in art, in story, in
song at the Arts Center/Old Forge; Agricultural Cathedrals at the Mill
Cottage Gallery in Rensselaerville; the Mountain Lake Collection in
Plattsburg; the WMHT Art Auction, and a solo exhibition at the
Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts in Blue Mountain Lake.
Karen is a graduate of Syracuse University, where she
majored in Photojournalism at the S. I. Newhouse School of Public
Communications and minored in Environmental Studies at the New York
State College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Karen also holds a
Master's Degree in Communications Photography from Syracuse University.
Although trained as a photojournalist (with experience
in studio photography), Karen has always loved the outdoors and
canoeing, camping, hiking and cross-country skiing. Most of her work is
produced as part of these activities. Karen's vision as a photographer
is to capture the peace, tranquility and often-hidden beauties of
nature in her photographs. As a conservationist, she hopes these images
inspire others to appreciate and care for our wild and natural places.
